Summary

The bill: enables the exchange of public health surveillance information in relation to public health events of national significance; enables the sharing of information with the World Health Organization and countries affected by any event relating to public health or an overseas mass casualty; gives effect to the International Health Regulations 2005; and establishes a scheme for the national registration and regulation of entities handling security-sensitive biological agents.
